The HUAWEI B313-322 boasts a clean, minimalist aesthetic that fits seamlessly into any environment. The device is housed in a sleek, white plastic casing that gives it a modern and professional look. Its compact dimensions—measuring approximately 150 mm in length, 125 mm in width, and 25.85 mm in thickness—make it remarkably portable. It is small enough to slip into a backpack, a laptop bag, or even a large pocket, ensuring that high-speed internet is always within reach.
Weighing in at roughly 238.6 grams (excluding the power adapter), the B313-322 is lightweight without feeling cheap. This portability is a key feature for users who are constantly on the move. The device can be placed on a desk, mounted on a wall, or tucked away in a corner, thanks to its unobtrusive design.
Build and Durability
Despite its lightweight construction, the B313-322 feels robust and well-built. The white matte finish is resistant to fingerprints and smudges, helping the device maintain its clean appearance over time. The device is designed to withstand the rigors of daily use, with a solid construction that protects the internal components.
Ports and Connectivity Options
The B313-322 is equipped with a strategic array of ports and buttons, maximizing its functionality in a compact form factor:
-
Power Jack: A standard DC 12V / 1A power input port for charging the device and powering it when the battery is removed.
-
100M LAN/WAN Network Port (RJ45): This is a versatile Ethernet port that can function as a LAN port to connect a wired device (like a desktop PC or a gaming console) or as a WAN port to connect to a wired internet source. This flexibility is a rare find in portable routers and adds significant value.
-
External LTE Antenna Interface (SMA): For users in areas with weak cellular signals, this port allows the connection of an external high-gain antenna to boost reception and improve data speeds.
-
SIM Card Installation Slot (Micro-SIM): The device uses a standard 3FF Micro-SIM card. This slot is easily accessible, allowing users to quickly swap SIM cards when traveling or changing network providers.
-
Removable Lithium-Ion Battery Slot: The device is powered by a user-replaceable 2400mAh Li-Ion battery. This design choice extends the lifespan of the device, as users can replace the battery if it degrades over time.
Wall-Mountable Design
Another practical design feature is the ability to mount the B313-322 on a wall. This is particularly useful for permanent installations in homes or offices, where the router can be placed in an optimal position for signal distribution without cluttering desk space. The mounting options provide flexibility in deployment, ensuring the device can be positioned for the best possible Wi-Fi coverage.
Technical Specifications and Performance
Network and Connectivity
At the heart of the HUAWEI B313-322 is a powerful 4G LTE modem that supports LTE Category 4 (Cat4). This technology enables theoretical download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps. While real-world speeds will vary depending on network coverage, signal strength, and network congestion, Cat4 provides a robust and reliable connection capable of handling HD video streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, and large file downloads.
The device supports a wide range of frequency bands, ensuring compatibility with numerous global networks:
-
LTE FDD: B1 (2100MHz), B3 (1800MHz), B7 (2600MHz), B8 (900MHz), B20 (800MHz), B28 (700MHz)
-
LTE TDD: B40 (2300MHz)
-
UMTS: B1 (2100MHz), B8 (900MHz)
This extensive band support makes the B313-322 a truly international device, suitable for use in Europe, Asia, Africa, and other regions where these bands are prevalent.
Wireless Connectivity (Wi-Fi)
The B313-322 creates a robust Wi-Fi network using the 802.11b/g/n standards (Wi-Fi 4). It operates exclusively on the 2.4 GHz frequency band. While 2.4 GHz doesn’t offer the same speed as the newer 5 GHz band, it provides superior range and better penetration through walls and obstacles, making it ideal for providing coverage throughout a home or office.
Key Wi-Fi features include:
-
Maximum Speed: Up to 300 Mbps.
-
2×2 MIMO Technology: Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology uses two antennas to transmit and receive data simultaneously, significantly improving throughput and signal stability.
-
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): A dedicated WPS button allows for one-touch, secure connections to compatible devices without the need to enter a password.
Antenna System
The HUAWEI B313-322 features a sophisticated internal antenna system designed to ensure optimal signal reception:
-
Built-in LTE/UMTS Main Antenna: For primary cellular reception.
-
Built-in LTE/UMTS Diversity Antenna: This secondary antenna improves signal quality in challenging environments, reducing data errors and improving overall connection stability.
-
Built-in Wi-Fi 2.4GHz Antenna: For broadcasting the Wi-Fi signal.
For users in areas with exceptionally weak cellular signals, the external SMA antenna port provides a valuable upgrade path. By connecting a compatible external antenna, users can significantly enhance their 4G signal strength, potentially transforming a poor connection into a usable one.
Security Features
Security is a critical concern for any internet-connected device, and the B313-322 does not disappoint. It comes equipped with a robust suite of security features to protect your network and data:
-
Firewall: A built-in firewall helps protect your network from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
-
WPA/WPA2 Encryption: The latest Wi-Fi security protocols ensure that your wireless network is encrypted and secure, preventing eavesdropping and unauthorized access.
-
MAC Address Filtering: This feature allows you to control exactly which devices can connect to your Wi-Fi network, adding an extra layer of security.
-
IP and URL Filtering: Administrators can restrict access to specific IP addresses or websites, which is useful for parental controls or corporate security policies.
-
DMZ (Demilitarized Zone): This feature allows a single device on the network to be exposed to the internet, which can be useful for specific applications like online gaming or running a server.
-
SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection): A sophisticated firewall technique that monitors the state of active connections and makes decisions based on the context of the traffic.

This makes it far more versatile and convenient for sharing a connection among a group of people or a household of devices.
Advantages Over Other Portable Routers
-
Ethernet Port: Many portable routers lack an Ethernet port, relying solely on Wi-Fi. The B313-322’s RJ45 port provides a valuable wired connection option for devices that do not have Wi-Fi or for applications requiring a more stable, lower-latency connection.
-
External Antenna Port: The SMA connector for an external antenna is a premium feature not found on many competing devices in this price range. This allows users to significantly improve performance in weak signal areas.
-
Removable Battery: The user-replaceable battery is a major advantage over devices with sealed batteries, as it extends the useful life of the product.
-
Wall-Mountable: The option to mount the device on a wall provides flexibility for permanent installations that many competitors lack.
Environmental and Compliance
The HUAWEI B313-322 is manufactured in compliance with a range of international environmental and safety standards, ensuring it meets rigorous quality and sustainability requirements:
-
WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment): Compliance with WEEE directives ensures the device can be properly recycled at the end of its life.
-
CE (Conformité Européenne): The CE mark indicates that the product meets EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.
-
ErP (Energy-related Products): Compliance with ErP directives means the device meets strict energy efficiency standards.
-
Wi-Fi Alliance: Certification ensures interoperability with other Wi-Fi certified devices.
-
ROHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances): The device is manufactured without the use of hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium.
